Get help to break free from OCD

Accessible evidence-based therapy for OCD delivered by Senior Clinical Psychologist

About us

On average there’s an 11 year gap between being diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and getting appropriate help. We want to change that.

In Your Element Psychology provides a specific, evidence-based ‘dose’ of treatment for people living with OCD. By keeping the psychological approach specific to OCD, we hope to keep therapy accessible and timely for those who need it.

In Your Element Psychology aims to link people living with OCD with a Clinical Psychologist who can provide the ‘gold standard’, first-line treatment option for OCD, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) Therapy. ERP is a form of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and has received the most evidence to date for the treatment of OCD. ERP might not be the only ingredient needed in your treatment plan, but this service wants to make sure it’s not overlooked.

In Your Element Psychology hopes to overcome barriers to access by providing evidence-based services to people with OCD in their own environment. Research has demonstrated ERP therapy can be effectively administered through Telehealth and there can be some benefits to doing this in the space where most OCD rituals can take place.

Meet Sophie

Sophie Clement, Senior Clinical Psychologist & Director

Sophie Clement is a Senior Clinical Psychologist with a specialist interest in working with adults experiencing mild to severe OCD and related anxiety conditions, including Health Anxiety, Panic Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder, and Specific Phobias. She has developed specialised expertise through her work in the inpatient OCD program at The Melbourne Clinic, alongside private practice, and is currently involved in research aimed at advancing OCD treatment in Australia. Sophie is among the first group of clinicians in Australia to receive training in the Bergen 4-Day Treatment (B4DT), an intensive, evidence-based OCD treatment developed in Norway.

Sophie is a Board-Approved Supervisor and offers supervision by appointment for health professionals working with OCD. She also welcomes referrals from psychologists seeking specialised support for their clients with OCD, including the provision of brief, targeted treatment where appropriate.

Sophie has seen Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) therapy help people across Australia reduce the impact of OCD and anxiety and return to meaningful areas of their lives. She understands the barriers many people face in accessing effective OCD treatment and is committed to helping make evidence-based care more accessible.

Sophie is based in Melbourne and divides her time between an inpatient OCD service, private practice, and clinical research.

What to expect: encouragement to move towards what matters, a compassionate and challenging approach, and a whole lot of ERP.
